Telehealth Physiotherapy

At E3 Physio we believe everyone should receive the right care, at the right time, despite where they live. That is why we are so pleased to be able to offer specialised Telehealth Consultations for Knee, Ankle, Foot, or Pain problems, even if you cannot attend the Burleigh Heads clinic.

Telehealth is surprisingly easy, with the simple requirement of you having to have a mobile phone, tablet, or computer. This style of assessment and management has been proven extremely effective in helping individuals get back to being them, despite experiencing pain.

The foot and ankle is an amazing and complex part of our body. It has to be able to act as a stable and strong platform for propelling us forward and upward, while at the same time be flexible and mobile to absorb load and adapt to different surfaces.

The foot and ankle are made up of 28 bones, 30 joints, more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments and 5 main nerves. So lots of important parts that all need to work well and work together. If that wasn’t enough, the way you recover from foot and ankle problems also depends on the physiology of pain, injury and healing. So don’t leave your recovery and future injury prevention to someone who has not done specialist training in foot & ankle and pain mechanisms.

Importantly, part of managing your foot and ankle problem is helping you return to what you love, quickly and effectively! We want to understand what you love doing, and are missing so we can personalise your treatment and rehabilitation to fit you and your lifestyle – this does not mean telling you just to stop your activities and rest!

The knee is the largest joint in the body! It is also pretty important as part of the chain of bones, muscles and ligaments that gives us movement and enables us to walk. It is incredibly strong and so injuries and pain here can be really debilitating – making it difficult to work, walk, run, cycle and enjoy simple things with friends & family.

We have expertise in orthopaedic testing and diagnosis, analysis of movement and strength, so you can gain confidence that you are thoroughly assessed and management is tailored specifically for you.

As physiotherapists’ we use the theory of Pilates along with current evidence about anatomy, injuries, and treatment principles to develop a program that addresses your specific problems. Additionally traditional Pilates is tough, and to be honest beyond the capabilities of a lot of us – especially after injury.

This is why it is important to use adapted and individualised versions of the traditional exercises and so we now call it ‘Clinical Exercise’ rather than Pilates. Although we use updated concepts behind the method, we still believe that breath and the mind-body connection are vital for our health and wellbeing.

Our 1:1 sessions and class teaching focus on effective movement patterns that get the best out of your body to help strength, control and flexibility. The work on the ‘core’ creates a strong base for all of our muscles to work from to enhance your movement. The exercises are not just for your core though, they are designed to strengthen your whole body, while focusing on your main problem.

As Physiotherapists who specialise in pain management, we help individuals successfully manage their acute-, post-operative-, and chronic musculoskeletal pain. Despite more than 20% (6.25 million) of the Australian population living with chronic pain, a large percentage of these individuals struggle to do the things they enjoy. One of the most frustrating aspects of pain is no one can ‘see your pain’, meaning you may feel unbelieved and dismissed. We know pain is very real and will likely impact all aspects of your life, not just the physical. Therefore, we offer expert advice and guidance on how to manage your pain effectively. This is essential to ensure you can return to doing what you love to do as soon as possible!

Our Australian Physiotherapist Association (APA) Titled Pain Specialist takes the time to make sure you are heard, and your pain problem is thoroughly assessed and understood. This ensures you get the best evidence-based advice and management plan tailored to you so you can get back to being you – physically and mentally.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a great adjunct to help relieve pain and release restricted movement due to tight muscles. Research has found that it helps your body to release its own natural painkillers (endorphins – same as the ‘high’ you get from running and sports) from the brain, as well as stimulation and local release of chemicals within tight muscles.

At E3 Physio we use a Western approach to acupuncture (including dry needling) which is based on current theories about how our body responds to the needles, including the chemical release we mentioned above, and local blood flow stimulation.

We find that acupuncture works well as an additional tool to help your rehab and healing progress as quickly as possible. To find out if this is a good treatment to help you on your return to health give us a call or book now.

As E3 Physio aims to get you the best outcomes, as quickly as possible, we couldn’t ignore Focussed Shockwave Therapy as an additional tool to assist your recovery from common knee, foot and ankle injuries. Focussed shockwave therapy has been proven to reduce pain and inflammation, as well as accelerate tissue healing. Basically, it can help speed up your recovery so you can get back to what you love quicker and more effectively. While Focussed Shockwave has some great advantages in aiding pain and healing, it is not a standalone treatment and should only be done as one aspect of a comprehensive treatment plan. It is also not ideal for everyone or every condition, so book a consultation today to see if it can help you get better sooner!

What can Focussed Shockwave (fSWT) help you with

As well as the evidence, we find Focussed Shockwave Therapy is the best for people we see with:

  • Plantar fasciitis/fasciosis and heel spurs
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Calcific tendinopathy in the knee, ankle/heel, and shoulder
  • Chronic tendinopathy including gluteal, patella and achilles
  • Insertional tendinopathy including hamstring, quads, patella
  • Shin splints (Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome)
  • Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (previously called, ‘trochanteric bursitis’)
