Pilates / Clinical Exercise
As physiotherapists’ we use the theory of Pilates along with current evidence about anatomy, injuries, and treatment principles to develop a program that addresses your specific problems. Additionally traditional Pilates is tough, and to be honest beyond the capabilities of a lot of us – especially after injury.
This is why it is important to use adapted and individualised versions of the traditional exercises and so we now call it ‘Clinical Exercise’ rather than Pilates. Although we use updated concepts behind the method, we still believe that breath and the mind-body connection are vital for our health and wellbeing.
Our 1:1 sessions and class teaching focus on effective movement patterns that get the best out of your body to help strength, control and flexibility. The work on the ‘core’ creates a strong base for all of our muscles to work from to enhance your movement. The exercises are not just for your core though, they are designed to strengthen your whole body, while focusing on your main problem.
